Telluride Town Park Pool
2026 Season Dates: May 28, 2026 - August 23, 2026
*The Telluride Annual Swim Meet is scheduled for Saturday, July 18th, 2026. Both pools will be closed on this day.
Open Swim
- Open swim is offered in both the Rec Pool and Lap Pool and is available on a walk-up basis as space allows.
- Reservations are not available or necessary for Open Swim.
Lap Swim
- The number of lap swimmers permitted in the pool during Lap Swim is limited to 3 swimmers per lane.
- Reservations are not required to attend Lap Swim, but may be made to ensure space in the pool during a designated time frame to swim laps; walk-up lap swim participants are accepted.
- Reservations may only be made online. Phone calls and office walk-in requests are not accepted.
- A $2 reservation fee is required in addition to entry fees to reserve space during Lap Swim.
- Reservations are non-exclusive, and swimmers are expected to share lanes with other swimmers.
Telluride Torpedoes Swim Team
Prerequisites:
- The minimum recommended age for participants is 7 years old
- Swimmers should be able to swim 4 lengths (2 laps in the pool).
- Swimmers will be grouped by age and ability in lap lanes and given workouts appropriate to their level for practices.
Travel Swim Team (beginning in May 2026)
- Travel program participants will attend weekday practices and weekend meets throughout the season at various Western Slope pools.
- Travel Program team members will be tentatively scheduled after school from May 18 through May 28 from 3:45 - 5:45pm. Morning practices are tentatively scheduled for June 1 through July 30, 2026.
Practice Swim Team (beginning in June 2026)
- Practice-only participants will attend weekday practices and have the option to participate in the Telluride Swim Meet (date TBD).
- Practices for all team members (tentatively scheduled for June 1 through July 30, 2026):
- 12 & over: 8:30 - 10:30 am
- 11 & under from 10:30 - 11:45 am
Introduction to Swim Team
- Several 2-week sessions will be offered throughout the season in 2026 for swimmers who are interested in joining the swim team, but would like to make sure the program is the right fit.

Applying Membership Discounts to Swim Lesson Registration
First, purchase a Summer Youth or Family Membership by selecting the Membership link at the top of the Active Communities webpage. 2026 pool memberships will be available in April, before online swim lesson registration opens.
Your membership must be completed before registering for swim lessons.
Be sure to include all immediate family members who will participate in swim lessons on your Family Membership.
Once your membership purchase is complete, select the Activities link at the top of the webpage.
Choose the swim lesson and session you want, then click Enroll Now.
On the next page, select the participant’s name from the drop-down menu.
The discounted rate will appear in the Fee Summary box on the right side of the page.
With a valid membership, each session costs $60.
Add the lesson to your cart and proceed to checkout, or register another participant.
Pool Rules
- All patrons, whether swimming, supervising, or watching, must pay to enter the facility.
- In order for children to attend the pool without a parent or guardian at least 15 years of age, they must meet all of the following requirements:
- Pass the Deep End Swim Test,
- Minimum 54 inches tall
- Minimum 10 years of age.
- Parents & guardians must accompany their children to the pool until all the above requirements have been met.

- All patrons under the age of 18 & below each pool height requirement must pass a swimming test or wear a life jacket.
- The parent/guardian of any child required to wear a life jacket must be in the water & within arm’s reach of their swimmer.
- Supervising parents/guardians are limited to supervising 2 children.
- Lifejackets are not permitted in the deep end of the pool.

- Swimming tests will take place during safety breaks. Additional testing may take place if staffing & facility usage allows.
- There will be a 10-minute safety break on the hour, every hour, during open swim.
- All persons visiting the pool must conduct themselves in a manner so as not to cause harm to themselves, or others, or to interfere with the lifeguards on duty. Running, rough play, dunking, spitting, sprouting & nose-blowing are strictly prohibited.
- The facility’s maximum occupancy is dependent upon patron-to-guard ratio, programming & various other factors; non-swimmers are included in the maximum occupancy.
- Swimmers who are not toilet trained must wear a tightly fitting swim diaper or plastic covering.
- All toys must be approved by staff. Staff reserves the right to allow only as many toys as they deem safe. There may be times during which no toys are allowed in the pool.
- Stairs, ladders & safety rope areas must remain clear & accessible at all times. This includes hanging from, sitting on, & standing on.
- Floatation devices must be USCG Type III or better.
- Alcohol & smoking are prohibited in the pool area. Patrons who appear to be under the influence will be denied admission or subject to eviction.
- Food & drink are not permitted on the deck or in the pool, please keep all food & drink in the grass.
- Glass containers, bicycles & animals (service animals exempted) are not allowed within the pool area.
- No shallow water diving; diving is only permitted in the deep end of the pool from the southern deck. Back flips, front flips, inverse jumps, backward-facing jumps, spinning jumps, cartwheels &/or entries into the water that are deemed unsafe are not permitted.
- Per state law, patrons must shower with soap before entering the pool.
- The pool will close if inclement weather, fecal accidents, mechanical failure, or any other situation that would jeopardize the public health or safety of the people in attendance occurs.
- If you have diarrhea, open wounds, sores, an illness or any other infectious or contagious condition, you shouldn’t be swimming. Bandages of any kind are not permitted.
- Proper swim attire must be worn & is subject to approval by staff. Swimmers must wear clean, colorfast garments that are suitable for swimming & do not interfere with their safety or the quality of the water. Clean water shoes are permitted. Clothing including cutoffs, colored cotton, street clothes, garments or braces with exposed metal, underwear, or clothing worn for exercising immediately prior to swimming are prohibited.
- Guests: if you see something that you feel is unsafe or requires the attention of staff, please say something.
- Persons violating any personal conduct regulations, whether written or verbal, will be subject to eviction without a refund or other disciplinary action.
Access to Lap Pool Swim test
In order for children to attend the pool without a parent or guardian at least 15 years of age, they must meet all of the following requirements:
- Pass the Deep End Swim Test,
- To access the deep end/rock wall swimmer must be able to jump into the deep end of the pool and surface on their own, swim the length of the pool, and tread water for 1 minute.
- Minimum 54 inches tall
- Minimum 10 years of age.
- Parents & guardians must accompany their children to the pool until all of the above requirements have been met.
To access the shallow end swimmer must be able to enter the shallow end independently and swim the width of the pool.

- Is the Town Park Pool heated?

Yes it is. We typically keep the pool heated to approximately 82 degrees.
- Can my child come to the pool unsupervised?
