For Immediate Release:
Town of Telluride - Town Council – Summary of Key Decisions
(May 10, 2022) -- Telluride, Colorado – The Telluride Town Council considered an appeal of the Planning and Zoning Commission’s approval of the amendment to the Telluride Transfer Warehouse’s Planned Unit Development (PUD). Town Council unanimously voted to affirm the approval of the Planning and Zoning Commission recent decision which will allow the Telluride Arts District, as owner of the building, to continue moving towards construction of a “partial” permanent roof on the Transfer Warehouse. Please see the approved PUD (PDF).
Town’s Assistant Attorney Alexandra Slaten gave a second reading of the amended noise ordinance that was voted on and adopted 5 to 1 by Town Council today. This amended ordinance demonstrates a new time frame of 7 am – 11 pm for amplified sound on Fridays, Saturdays, and defined holidays. A new permitting process will allow certain events to exceed these time limits on occasion upon notice to neighbors and approval by the Town. Further, the criminal penalty for violation of the noise provisions has been removed and are now punishable only by fine. The Telluride Marshal’s Office will now cite not only the noise-maker but also the property owner as a means to hold all persons involved accountable and deter repeat violations.
Finally, Town Council voted unanimously to move forward with the recommended Sunnyside Affordable Housing Project’s rental rates, income limits, occupancy qualifications & standards, and lottery processes for the Sunnyside Housing Project. A special Board of County Commissioners meeting will commence at 9:30 am tomorrow (May 11, 2022) to address these recommended measures with a motion to follow.
